The houses of the small village of Oberndorf, which lies at 687 meters of altitude, are spread throughout the valley and are home to about 1,700 inhabitants. The town stretches along the main road with some side roads winding their way up into the hills. Oberndorf is quieter than St. Johann and the prices are generally somewhat lower. There is, however, a cable car which provides a direct connection to the ski resort of St. Johann and its ski area. At first you might think that Oberndorf is a little sleepy, but there are four après ski bars and even a nightclub here! Oberndorf itself has a small ski and toboggan run.
