Ski area Stubaital

Based on 2 reviews

Stubaital in short

  • Height: 982 - 3210 metres
  • Glacier skiing
  • Authentic atmosphere
  • Great for snowboarders
  • Good mixed-ability ski area

This valley is a great example of the authentic Tyrol atmosphere with its beautiful villages which seem to have come right out of a fairy tale. Picturesque churches, typical warm and cosy farms and welcoming cafes are abound. The Stubai glacier actually consists of 4 glaciers, which together form one of the largest all-season ski areas in Europe. Wide blue ski slopes alternate with tougher more challenging ones, with occasionally, some ungroomed areas interspersed. The cross-country trails cover an overall distance of over 68km.

With well over 170 km of superb ski slopes, fairly shared out between beginners, intermediates and experts, this ski area is a dream for every winter sports fan. The facilities for snowboarders are excellent although it's worth noting that there are rather a lot of drag lifts here - not always that popular with snowboarders... The different ski areas are connected by regular, free ski buses. Neustift is the main ski resort giving access to the Stubai Glacier and it is where the majority of ski schools are based. Ski touring is very popular here too.
