One of the best parts about the skiing pre-season is the chance to get your stoke on with ski films and ski talk with a group of like-minded skiers and snowboaders. And that's exactly what the Winter Opener is: basically an excuse to drool over sick ski films and socialise with other avid skiers and boarders who also can't wait for ski season. Are you in?

Choose from films or workshops - or both

A joint venture by the Ski Club of Great Britain andBritish Backcountry, the Winter Opener has run successfully in Edinburgh for 3 years and is now coming to London. The event will run all day and into the night, with three daytime freeride workshops featuring experienced coaches from British Backcountry and British Freeride coaches from Scotland, and an evening full of ski films inspired by the rugged beauty of our very own ski hills.

Practical info

A daytime ticket to the workshops will cost you £45, while an evening ticket for the films will set you back £15. If you think about it, it's a fantastic deal. You would normally pay much more than that for freeride lessons in-resort, and the list of films is long and varied, something you can really dig your teeth into. Workshops run from 1030am to 4pm, and films are on from 7pm - 1130pm. There will also be a bar in the evening so you can make new skiing friends for the upcoming ski season!

About Danielle

Born and raised in the ski paradise of Vancouver, Canada, I learned to ski before I can remember, balancing precariously on my parents’ skis as they sailed down the hill. I started snowboarding in my teens and am now delighted to be exploring everything Europe’s ski scene has to offer!
