Based on 4 reviews

Serre Chevalier in short

  • Height: 1200 - 2800 metres
  • Plenty of long runs for cruising
  • Stunning tree-lined ski slopes
  • Great off-piste skiing

Serre Chevalier is a spread-out ski area made up of 13 smaller and very varied mountain villages, meaning there's plenty of choice of places to stay here. The ski slopes of the Serre Chevalier ski area are a real paradise for skiers who like to cover many kilometres of pistes on their ski holidays, offering them the opportunity to cruise the seemingly endless valley runs. Serre Chevalier is also known for its off-piste terrain. The ski area is about a 2-hour drive from Turin Airport.

The two most popular villages in Serre Chevalier are Monêtier les Bains and Briançon, the latter of which dates back to the 13th century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ski area of Serre Chevalier, one of the largest single-resort ski areas in France, offers 250km of slopes for everyone from beginners to expert skiers! The ski area has the best of both worlds, with 300 days of sunshine a year and north-facing slopes that guarantee good snow cover. The infrastructure at Serre Chevalier is modern and efficient, with fast lifts and extensive snowmaking facilities. Serre Chevalier is on its way to being 100% sustainable, with a variety of green initiatives that you'll see throughout the ski area.

Skiing in Serre Chevalier

The Serre Chevalier ski area is best suited to intermediate skiers, who can enjoy the ski slopes that run through the Parc National des Écrins in some of the most stunning scenery in the French Alps. These include the endless red runs from the Prorel, Aiguillet and Eduits. For those who like to name names, there is the famous “Olympic Luc Alphand” black run just waiting to be tackled! Freestylers can choose from several boardercross runs and snow parks, including one that's made of natural features and winds its way through the forest. Serre Chevalier offers night skiing on floodlit slopes during certain weekdays of the French school holidays.
