Mount Flums is situated on Lake Waal and is one of the largest ski areas in eastern Switzerland. Despite the excellent facilities, the area has not been invaded by mass tourism as has happened elsewhere in the Swiss Alps. In addition to the usual red and black runs, here there is a higher than usual number of blue runs which make this paradise for beginners and families with young children. There is some outstanding off-piste skiing which should not be missed by real connoisseurs.
The 16 up-to-date lifts serve the 65km of ski slopes all armed with snow cannons in the case of infrequent snowfalls. Queueing is a rare event here and there are plenty of snow bars and ski huts up on the slopes where you can stop for a break in the relaxed and sociable atmosphere. Family facilities are great in this ski area with plenty of daycare and ski school options. Snowboarders are in for a treat too in the 2 fun parks they will find here.
