This thermal village resort, which is closed off to car traffic, is easily accessible from the motorway but is, however, set in a peaceful, almost isolated location. The skiing area of Leukerbad has become world famous because several world cup races have been held here. This resort has some good cross-country trails at high altitudes, allowing cross-country skiers to admire splendid panoramic views rather than being stuck in the valley as is often the case.
The 50km of ski slopes in the Leukerbad ski area are predominantly red and black with some great challenging slopes to keep demanding skiers on their toes. There are, however, enough blue runs for beginners and young children to practice on.
